the end of all things.... well, this is it. the last day of tracking. We wish we had more time, cause we feel a little rushed. not many bands track an entire album in only 15 days. Last album we had an entire month to record. However, i think we got more done in 15 days and feel better about the record this time around than we ever have recording. there is still some gang vocals to do, i have a couple songs im contributing vocals on, keyboards for one song and vocals for 1 1/2 songs. If theres one thing Staple knows how to do is work under pressure though. We have been playing around with track listing ideas, trying to brainstorm the ultimate record listing. It's a lot like making a mix tape. for those of you interested in the lost art of compilations, there is a fine level of detail in making songs flow one from another with consistency giving the album a feeling of a whole instead of just a bunch of songs thrown together. good example....Stavesacre's Speakeasy. you cant put that record in and by the time it gets to the end you dont even realise it cause it flows to well. Be sure to keep checking Myspace and Purevolume for exclusive sneak peeks into the upcoming album. Anyhow, were leaving tomorrow at like 6 am to get to the airport in time. Then it's time for some memorial day BBQs! have a happy holiday everyone! ~I
studio journal 5-24-5 titles and their curious meanings..... Wow, i didnt know anyone read these blogs. It's nice to have some kind of audience. Anyhow, studio work is ripping along with 5 songs done on bass now. Brian is laying down guitars right now on a song called "Honor and Integrity" which is one of my favorite live songs to play right now, but once this new record comes out there will be plenty new ones that Im sure will take its place. Weve honestly never been quite as pumped about this project as right now. the more we hear Sylvia and Kale' record the more comfortable weve been. Yesterday was a day off so Darin, Brian and I hung out with some new friends here in Weed at the Star Wars III midnight premier (which is stellar by the way!). Tomorrow Darin starts laying down vocal tracks assuming that Sylvia is feeling less sick. Hopefully we can get started on that cause the new lyrics are very powerful and I cant wait to hear them in action. I should be seeing some album covers in the next week or so, so I'm jazzed about seeing ideas for the new record. Also, we are talking with a photographer out of Chicago about doing a shoot when we get back from the studio. I'm actually really into that cause we've had the same pictures for the last year and a half now. It's time to show off some new tattoos! Thats it for now, but stay tuned for more updates as more of the record is completed and news developes. Make sure to drop by the message board on the website sometime as well. see ya ex-lax

| Well, we have 3 more days in the studio, and we're done. This record is surpassing our hopes and plans by far, and we are very thankful. There are gonna be strange things on this record, and you probably don't have any idea what they are. (I know I didn't). We used 8-10 different guitar amps, most of the petals, and about 8 guitars. I used two different drum kits in different rooms, and israel used things that shouldn't be used on bass. We also used things called mellotron, and theremin, which are entirely different beasts. You might not notice them.. but they are there . Oh.. and brian is using a sweet haunted stratocaster. Or at least they call it that, cause it's a gift from a lady that passed away to sylvia......haha. Ok, I'm being a bit dramatic. However, we're about done.. and I'm happy.
